Through Truck Windows: The Week in an Eggshell

In an eggshell, here are last week’s photos—snapped from the truck, mostly. Through the windshield, through the shotgun seat glass, both smeared with smashed bugs and rain.

As instructed, we took our masks and gloves and disinfectant. Towed our self-contained little trailer for the sake of social distance. Hoped that someplace, somewhere was uncontaminated.

Couldn’t find it, no matter how spectacular the landscape. The problem was this: wherever we went, there we were, carrying a virus far worse than Covid-19.

Some people call that infection human nature. Others call it fear. Or selfishness. Or sin. Regardless, we see its symptoms in our streets, on the news, in us . . .

Everywhere, actually. Evidence of the first global pandemic, ongoing.

Nothing new here. Nature’s been teaching about it—and the cure—for a very long time.

Come see. Come to the mountains with me. Walk (and read) slowly. Watch nature illustrate life—and point to Hope’s antibodies.

With Glacier Flour Stirred In.

Like mortar and pestle, rock and glacier produce silt that flushes into Washington’s Diablo Lake. Sunlight catches the particles, and—voila—turquoise!
